Information You Submit
Search terms
A name, place, or other query entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. Harnett County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The search provider's terms and privacy practices govern the query once it is submitted.
Messages
If you send an email or contact-form message, the information in that message is retained as needed to read and answer it. A message is not shared outside the organization unless doing so is required by law or a valid legal process.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine web technology can create limited technical records when a page loads. Those records may contain:
- The internet protocol address used for the visit.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when one is supplied.
- Date and time stamps associated with requests.
Cookies
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support site features. Most browsers let users block or remove cookies. Some functions may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected data is used for limited operational purposes:

Links and Outside Services
Pages link to Harnett County release-record sources, sheriff and corrections websites, court portals, federal locators, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, that destination's privacy policy and technical practices apply. Harnett County Released Inmates does not control those sites.
Some advertising providers may use their own cookies or similar technology to measure activity across different websites and select targeted ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems under its policy, not on systems controlled by this site.
When Information May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool.
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements.
- Law enforcement or another government body responding to a valid legal order.
Security Is Best Effort
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under this site's control. No internet connection, server, or storage system is fully secure. Absolute security and breach-free operation therefore cannot be promised.
Users Must Be Adults
This site is intended for people age 18 or older. It does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information, use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion.
Your Data Choices
Depending on applicable law and the information held, a user may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal information maintained about that user.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal information when a valid basis applies.
- Opt out of certain processing where that choice is available.
A request may require enough information to verify identity and locate the relevant data. Search queries held by an outside tool must be addressed to that provider.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as technology, providers, or legal duties change. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here with an updated effective date.
