This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. The responsible public office must handle those requests.
County Custody Contacts
For a fresh county custody or release-versus-transfer question, contact the facility holding the operational record. No public records-counter hours were verified, so call before visiting.

Use the detention line for a current county custody event. Ask whether the recorded departure was a community release or transfer and request the date, time, and disposition. The sheriff's main line can route a booking-image or detention-record question.
Written Records and Court Files
Harnett County accepts written public-record requests through its public information request page, paper form, or publicrecords@harnett.org. Identify the Harnett County Sheriff's Office and detention record set in the request. Court records must go to the clerk instead.
Harnett Clerk of Superior Court
301 W. Cornelius Harnett Boulevard
Lillington, NC 27546
Main: 910-814-4600
Criminal division: 910-814-4588
The clerk handles judgments, release orders, dismissals, bond filings, and court dispositions. Published office assignments and hours can change, so verify them through the official Harnett court directory before traveling.
State Prison and Supervision
County jail and state prison records are separate. Harnett Correctional Institution cannot serve as a county detention records office, and a person convicted in Harnett may be assigned to another North Carolina prison.

Use NCDAC Constituent Services for a public state offender or release-record question that OPUS does not resolve. The Commission handles applicable parole decisions and post-release supervision conditions, while NCDAC Division of Community Supervision provides field supervision.
Choose the Matching System
The record path depends on the last known custodian:
- Use the home page for the complete released-person search and county record-request route.
- Check Probation & Parole for state supervision and Commission records.
- Read Jail Releases: 24 Hours before relying on Harnett's recent-incarceration PDF.
- Compare Projected Release with VINELink for future dates and event alerts.
- Search sentenced North Carolina prisoners through the official NCDAC OPUS locator.
- Use BOP for designated federal prisoners and ICE for immigration detention.
Federal pretrial custody may belong to the U.S. Marshals Service before BOP designation. ICE's locator is for current immigration detention and is not a criminal release-history archive.
